New Media
I would like to believe the new social media to be a virtual world. There are many movies that point to this innovation including the likes of Ready Player One and Sword Art Online. In these depictions of virtual reality, people are able obtain virtual currency and trade among other users. Although I believe this notion of virtual reality will come in to play one day, I believe it will take a while. Movies depict creative ideas and these creations won't be around until several generations later. Although this technology may sound fun and all, in reality there is a fairly similar system in China where citizens are given a score based on their virtual profiles including the likes of Wechat, Weibo and other chinese platforms. This technology can harm society or help it.

ReplyDeleteA virtual social media world sounds very interesting. I can see it being very fun but also dangerous at the same time, considering how much the world is concerned about data privacy. Particularly in nations where the government has major control over society, this type of technology will empower the government even more...
